About Blenda Tyvoll
Hi there! I hope you enjoy my website, BlendaStudio.com. Here, I write about my work as a fulltime painting artist, about our farm, DIY projects around the house, pets, people...things that inspire living a creative life.
My hope is you will enjoy the site and come back often. I truly delight in reading each one of your comments and encourage you to do so.
And A Little More
Growing up my father was an inventor and a world explorer. One of my earliest memories is standing on a windy bluff looking out at the deep blue waters of the Indian Ocean watching a faraway merchant ship round the southern tip of the island of Madagascar. What an experience to have lived and traveled half way around the world and back all before the age of 10. Then one late summer day our family of 7 moved back home to Oregon where I've lived ever since. Those early childhood influences of far away places full of a rich tropical palette of bright colors have stayed with me through the years and will often influence how I paint.
These days my handy husband, Mr T and I own and operate a small sustainable U cut Christmas tree farm with a view of Mt Hood as a back drop and the inspiration for my tree paintings. We adore our J. Quincy, a mischievous Siamese kitty, who keeps us smiling with his joy of living life to the fullest. Cisco and Reyo, two frisky horses hang out in our back yard pasture.
Why Create?
Painting can be easy, effortless and very satisfying. I scrape, add layers, glaze and stamp my surfaces in order to achieve a unique texture of paint and color. There are even those magical times when all I can do is hold on to the brush as it seemingly paints the canvas on it's own. And then there are those days when nothing goes right, no matter how hard I try, everything turns to a muddy disorganized mess. But just when I have sworn to give it all up, suddenly the magic happens again and I step away from the canvas and wonder, "How did this creation come about?" A unique perspective that only my mind can conceive. That's when I realize it's worth the struggle and am content once again to continue living a creative life.
Oh and one more thing I don't like to admit but it's true, if I could I'd survive on coffee and chocolate".
